Many of the materials for the decor are sourced from within the area and everything was designed with extreme attention to detail. They are all about introducing you to modern Mexico and immersing you in it’s rustic & contemporary charm.
I really could not get over how beautiful everything was. The grounds and buildings are immaculate. UNICO 20 87 is all three wrapped into one.
I only want to stay at resorts that are pristine, modern and beautiful. We loaded into a nice van complete with wifi and cold beverages and were off!Ĭonfession. We arranged everything through the resort prior to arrival and once we exited baggage claim there was a friendly gentleman there to greet us. I have flown into the Cancun airport several times and this was by far one of the smoother transfers. UNICO 20 87 is located approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport between Playa Del Carmen & Tulum.

The name comes from the coordinates of where the resort is located, 20 degrees north and 87 degrees west and alludes to just how unique (no pun intended) this resort is since no other place can claim those coordinates. If you’re looking for relaxation, this isn’t the right place.Last week Zach and I visited Mexico’s newest luxury all-inclusive, UNICO 20 87. The resort is affiliated with the Hard Rock hotels (the Legacy membership applies to all) and attracts the same crowd - loud, inconsiderate and obnoxious. They then tried to withhold the spa vouchers/limit how they could be applied in retaliation. The sales associates (other than one) were hostile, rude and aggressive despite my having been clear that I wasn’t going to be interested in purchasing. After declining, we were bribed with free spa services and agreed to attend. We were also begged by text message and in person to attend the sales presentation. We had a server lie to my dad, telling him the drink he ordered was correct when they in fact served him a lesser quality beverage and expected him to not notice the difference.
I had to rebook them to be told the next day that it was a mistake and our original reservations were there. On our arrival, I went to confirm our dinner reservations made in advance and was told half of them were not reserved. From our doors left open by cleaning staff to hotel electronics being stolen from our room during our stay, it was one inconvenience after another. Pros: clean, beautiful resort with good food and responsive staff.Ĭons: the beach isn’t nice, the small pools are aesthetically pleasing but get too warm in the sun and while the staff individually are very helpful and responsive, they wouldn’t need to be if the resort was run properly.
